Daoist Yoga

Daoist Wuji Yoga

Wuji Yoga is a system of stretching and opening the body which is based upon the Daoist principles of Sung and Nei Gong. The Dao De Jing states that an entity which is stiff and immovable is heading towards death; a pliable and open entity is full of life. This is reflected in the quality of a practitioners body. If our joints are tight and closed we are seriously restricting blood and Qi flow which serves to nourish our organs and tissues. If we are able to open the joints and keep them soft, Qi and blood will flow freely and the body will stay healthy for longer.

Learn to Find Your Own Body Relaxing

many people are uncomfortable within their own bodies. All of us have either seen or been that person who groans when they make even the smallest movement. How can we learn to relax and enjoy our lives when our own body is working against us? A soft and pliable body in turn leads to an open and flexible mind which is able to think more clearly and deal with life’s difficulties. This does not mean that we need super-human flexibility. We are not aiming to be contortionists. Instead we need to ensure that we have a relaxed and fluid rotation of the joints within their own normal radius of movement.

Escape Your Own Body Weight

The Daoists recognised that the planet slowly claims us as our lives progress. Gravity pulls down on us which means that our skeletal structure has to support an increasingly burdensome load. This puts stress onto our joints which will wear out faster leading to mobility problems and difficulties such as arthritis in later life. We can slow this process and combat the effects of gravity by freeing up the joints and perfecting our bodily alignments through a practice such as Daoist Wuji Yoga. When our joints er strong and free-moving and our alignments are good, our weight is dropped won through our body into the floor without our structure being pulled down. In short this means that we feel lighter and more liberated. A feeling which spreads into our psychological state
