Introduction to Alchemy

Ocotber 24 – 28, 2020

Course Overview

Daoist Nei Dan or ‘Alchemy’ was considered the highest and most secretive aspect of their internal training. Alchemy is a form of seated, body-based meditation exercise designed to convert the treasures of Jing, Qi and Shen so that a person may attain the highest possible levels of conscious realisation. More than simply mental-work, alchemy takes the natural energetic and physical processes of the body and trains an adherent how to adjust them so that they become efficient enough for spiritual growth.

Damo Mitchell will be teaching Nei Dan according to the Northern sects of the Daoist tradition with an emphasis upon helping students to build a solid foundation within the base-level-stages of cultivating and rarifying the Jing. With many years experience, Damo can assist students in order to navigate the often tricky practice of developing the ‘firing process’ within the lower abdomen and learning how to establish the Dan Tian, cauldron and furnace. This will be the first time that Damo has taught alchemy in the United States and he will be assisted by his wife, Roni Edlund.

Please note that this event will involve a fair amount of silent-seated work and so students should be prepared for this.

More Details

This course is going to be aimed at regular students within the Lotus Nei Gong school. You need to have practiced the foundations of Nei Gong for a period of time in order to be able to attend this course.

This weekend is going to be focused primarily towards nourishing the Heart-field through practices such as Diamond Qi Gong and Xi Wang Mu seated practice.

The field of the ‘Xin’ needs to be open and spacious, free of emotional debris and stagnation. This is the basis of Qi building using the key energetic centre for women, the Heart-centre, and this is what we will focus on during the course.

Practices such as the Xi Wang Mu method and the Heart-Diamond Qi Gong encourage the expansion of the Heart-field; as this field grows, we may begin to touch upon the stillness which exists within the centre of our being. If the five spirits and associated emotions are able to be settled, then we are able to progress beyond the distortions of the acquired mind. This development is the basis of union within the spiritual arts.

This course will run from 10am – 5pm on Saturday the 31st of October and Sunday the 1st of November.
